Evergreen Marine (UK) Limited is in charge of developing UK and Ireland markets.

Evergreen established in 1968 has since become one of the largest shipping lines in the world, and it is fully committed to its customers as well as to environment protection. Evergreen’s recent shipbuilding program to expand its fleet has already deployed several new containerships with the latest marine technologies which were adopted for quality transportation service and also for sustainable development of marine ecology.

Objective:

  • Work in a small team with external sales representatives
  • Help achieve set budget for annual volume growth for UK Imports / Exports across all trade lanes
  • Liaise closely with Head Office trade teams to secure competitive pricing to develop volumes
  • Maintain and develop strong lasting relationships with key clients to generate additional volume
  • Monthly volume/budget review with Management to drive growth

Duties will include the following:

  • Liaising with customers and Company departments
  • Researching and contacting potential new customers
  • Targeting new business through IFF / NVO / Direct clients
  • Instrumental in achieving set budget for annual volume growth for UK Imports / Exports across all trade lanes
  • Report weekly to MGT on market conditions and new opportunities
  • Regular weekly contact with customer base to feedback market rate levels to MGT and generate additional volume for the Group
  • Provide rate quotations to customers and to negotiate rate levels within agreed guidelines
  • Follow up on previous quotations to obtain business
  • Monitor e-mails received by Field Sales Representatives each day, carry out whatever actions are needed
  • Close liaison with customer service teams
  • File rates with HO and locally
  • Liaise with continental offices when necessary
  • Follow up on previous quotations to obtain business

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in shipping is not necessary but may be an advantage
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK, without sponsorship
  • GCSE Mathematics and English, higher qualifications are advantageous
  • Must have a strong knowledge of Geography and Economics
  • Must have a good telephone manner when speaking to customers
  • Pro-active/can-do attitude
  • Confident manner to meet and build customer relationships
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • Computer literate
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
